Summary

Designed the user experience for a mobile app to foster conversations and increase employee engagement in the workplace. Designed a social experience to post pictures, links, and more to a newsfeed for employees and employee groups. Also designed rules for comments, and an overall hierarchy for the experience. Carried out industry research and designed the app experience based on subject matter knowledge and the needs of stakeholders. Delivered low fidelity wireframes and collaborated with a visual designer for the final high fidelity mockups.

Research

Examined mobile apps by other companies that serve to create a social network for a corporate environment. Also researched apps designed to create and distribute internal corporate communications. The purpose of this research is to identify features that are unique or seem particularly effective.

Ideation

Ideation began with presenting this information to stakeholders and creating user stories to better identify the design needs. With these user stories in mind, sketches began for a possible hierarchy of information and a general flow that the app experience would follow. After receiving feedback and iterating on the initial sketches, low-fidelity wireframing began.

Design

A series of low fidelity wireframes were created in InDesign, spanning a variety of experiences from creating different types of posts, editing posts, and creating conversations.
